Asphalt Patching occurs when an asphalt surface has extensive cracking, potholes or has been damaged. Some people would recommend asphalt sealing but that would not work if your asphalt were cracking and had potholes. It is known to be best to repair large areas of “alligator cracking” in a parking lot with patching. This process involves grinding away both the base and surface asphalt in the parking lot, then applying a new layer of binder and a new layer of surface, giving the parking lot a new 4” of asphalt.
